MANA WAHINE SERIES
Hinepukenga

Collaboration with Robyn Kahukiwa

Robyn's image of Hine Pukenga (centre) represents achievements and self-maintenance that is essential for growth. Women can use the strength of Hine Pukenga to embrace their Maoritanga and to explore how they can make a difference in their lives. She talks about old behaviours and how we can begin to make the effort to change and grow towards positive outcomes.

This collobartion was created specifically to support KAI4KIDS. KAI4KIDS is an initiative by Robyn Kahukiwa and Hinewehi Mohi to raise money from the sale of art for breakfasts/lunches in low decile schools.

Digital artwork titled 'Hinepukenga' by Bronwyn Waipuka and Robyn Kahukiwa. The central figure, carved in a stylised Māori form, cradles a newborn beneath a star-filled sky. Two sleeping wāhine flank her, surrounded by flowing kōwhaiwhai and the phrase 'He tapu te tinana o te wahine, nā te mea he whare tangata' — the body of the woman is sacred, for she is the house of humanity.
